We used to live in the Cricket Club neighbourhood and have sold literally hundreds of homes there over the years and we're often asked why this relatively small community is so popular. Bordered by Wilson Avenue on the north, Brooke Avenue on the south, and Avenue Road and Yonge Street on the west and east, the Cricket Club is named for the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club location on Wilson Avenue. This popular club offers a dizzying array of sporting activities including swimming, tennis, squash, lawn bowling as well as those listed in its lengthy title, and is also a popular social hub with its busy restaurant and many community activities.
And that really sums up the popularity of the neighbourhood in general - community. This is the kind of neighbourhood you grew up in, or wished you'd grown up in. One where your children can walk or bicycle to school and play hockey in the quiet, leafy streets, where neighbours shovel each other's walkway and pick up mail and runaway garbage cans.
Every neighbourhood convenience is within walking distance, groceries, drug store, hardware store, library, doctors and dentists, together with a wide selection of independent boutiques, restaurants and cafes.
For golf enthusiasts, the Don Valley Golf Course is located just north of York Mills off Yonge Street. This public course is set amongst the beautiful scenery of the Don River Valley.
And for when you feel the need to venture further afield, you can walk to the subway, catch a bus or be on the highway in minutes.
